Chris Meloni teaser for True Blood season 5

Chris Meloni is joining the fifth series of True Blood this summer and the vampire Roman. Meloni plays the extremely powerful and ancient vampire Roman, the guardian of the governing body for all vampires, the Vampire Authority. He’s also the mastermind behind the mainstreaming movement, which aimed to integrate vampires into human society.

HBO has also release some promotional posters featuring the tagline “everything is at stake”.

True Blood returns to FX UK this autumn, meaning we don’t have to wait too long after the US airings.

Prometheus extended Origins featurette and gallery

Discussing the concept behind Prometheus, this featurette from Yahoo! New Zealand called Origins Today we bring you a similar featurette from Yahoo! New Zealand contains great new footage from the movie.

Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Prometheus will be released in UK cinemas on 1st June in 3D nationwide by Twentieth Century Fox. Directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace.

Vin Diesel as Riddick [Hot Sci-Fi Hunk]

Damn! Vin Diesel is looking hot in this latest photo from the third Chronicles of Riddick movie, simply titled Riddick. We really liked both films, the first akin to Aliens and the second’s brave attempt at establishing a bigger mythology. Whether the third installment will be any good is anyone’s guess, but damn does Vin Diesel look good or what?

The infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he’s encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty.

The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won’t leave the planet without Riddick’s head as their trophy.

Directed by David Twohy, Riddick stars Vin Diesel, Katee Sachoff, Jordi Molla, Karl Urban, Matt Nable, Conrad Pla, Raoul Trujillo, Nolan Funk, Keri Hilson, Bokeem Woodbine and David Bautista.

Tonight the UK’s Channel 4 TV channel premiered a new and extended trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. With tons of new footage, Prometheus is set to become the sci-fi film of the year. I’m really excited for this movie.

This new clip from Marvel’s The Avengers (I refuse to call it Avengers Ass-emble) was shown a couple days ago on the Graham Norton Show. It features Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) trying to talk Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) into joining the team.

Directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers is out on 4th May and stars Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson and Tom Hiddleston.

Ridley Scott, director of ‘Alien’ and ‘Blade Runner’, returns to the genre he helped define. With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus stars Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Kate Dickie, Sean Harris, Rafe Spall, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba and Patrick Wilson.

Prometheus will be released in UK cinemas on 1st June in 3D nationwide by Twentieth Century Fox.

Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ “The Dark Knight Rises” is the epic conclusion to filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, Leading an all-star international cast, Oscar(R) winner Christian Bale (“The Fighter”) again plays the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy, as Bane; Oscar(R) winner Marion Cotillard (“La Vie en Rose”), as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John Blake. Returning to the main cast, Oscar(R) winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules”) plays Alfred; Gary Oldman is Commissioner Gordon; and Oscar(R) winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) reprises the role of Lucius Fox. The screenplay is written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, story by Christopher Nolan & David S. Goyer. The film is produced by Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Charles Roven, who previously teamed on “Batman Begins” and the record-breaking blockbuster “The Dark Knight.” The executive producers are Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Teaser – Joseph talks about his Bruce Willis look

In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented – but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper” – a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) – is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good… until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

BBC unhappy with Tennant Who themed ad

It seems that Richard Branson’s time travel themed advertising for Virgin’s Tivo service has the BBC a little miffed. Why? It stars David Tennant, mostly known for his time travelling role as the Doctor in the Beeb’s sci-fi series Doctor Who.

While Virgin says the advert is about Branson’s “love of exploration” and not cashing in on Doctor Who (which features as one of the on demand series), the BBC’s view is less than forgiving.

“We should ensure that the BBC brand is not used to endorse outside companies or organisations,” the BBC said in a statement. “We can achieve this by ensuring commercial advertising, promotion and press releases by outside companies do not give the impression of BBC endorsement, and advertising does not ‘pass off’ BBC programmes.”

Total Recall remake starring Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid – played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1990 hit movie of the same name. Judging by the footage below, I think I’m going to like director Len Wiseman’s take on Philip K. Dick’s short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale. I just hope the fight scene with Quaid’s two love interests (Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel) kicks as much ass as Sharon Stone and Rachel Ticotin’s.

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. New trailer for the British made sci-fi movie Modified, directed by Paul Cotrulia.

Kerr (Cory Sanders) searches an underground world of illegal body modification with technology for Cole (Lia Albers) the woman he loves, but soon finds himself caught in a battle of control of the Modification scene. Their world will be torn apart.

The Hunger Games: Countdown trailer

Only a few more days to the UK release of The Hunger Games, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.

In a not-too-distant future, North America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss’ young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district’s female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart Peeta, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives.

The Hunger Games is released in the UK on 23rd March.

I really enjoyed the book by Seth Grahame-Smith and having now seen the trailer, I’m bloody excited for the movie adaptation. Benjamin Walker, who plays the titular role looks amazing swinging his axe.

The film explores the secret life of our greatest president, and the untold history that shaped our nation. As a young boy, Abraham Lincoln (Benjamin Walker) witnesses the shocking death of his mother, leading him on a path to an ongoing war – and ultimately to the presidency – he chronicles in a hidden diary. The journal reveals the incredible story of a clandestine warrior who never stopped fighting for the country he led and the people he loved.

Crossed Badlands comic has Queen eating Prince Charles’ balls

Beginning today, the much-anticipated Crossed: Wish You Were Here webcomic debuted at CrossedComic.com. A weekly series written by Si Spurrier and illustrated by Javier Barreno, Wish You Were Here will launch to coincide with the worldwide “C-Day” celebration of all things Crossed.

Along side this is the launch of Crossed Badlands #1, a new twice-monthly Crossed comic from Garth Ennis and Jacen Burrows. Badlands takes another group of stragglers, with a difference. One of them claims to be His Royal Hotness, Prince Harry, whose crazed zombie grandmother, The Queen of England became “Crossed” and ate Prince Charles’ balls.
