Cory Doctorow - Makers
Forbidden Planet is pleased to announce a signing by Cory Doctorow. He will be signing his newest novel Makers at the Forbidden Planet Megastore, 179 Shaftesbury Avenue, London, WC2H 8JR, on Thursday 29th October from 6 – 7pm.
Perry and Lester invent things – like an entirely new economic system. Soon barefoot bankers are criss-crossing the nation, microinvesting in high-tech communal start-ups. Together they transform a country, and journalist Suzanne Church is there to document it. But a new economic system requires a whole new belief system — and there are plenty of non-believers out there. Fizzing with bold ideas about the future and how our lives will look, this book takes Perry, Lester and Suzanne on an unforgettable journey – bring them together only to break them apart as they try to discover how to live in an ever-changing world.
Described as ‘the William Gibson of his generation’, Cory is an sf novelist, blogger and technology activist. Formerly Director of European Affairs for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, he was named one of Forbes Magazine’s 2007/08 Web Celebrities and is the co-editor of popular BoingBoing as well as writing for numerous other sources. His list of laurels is endless – Cory has won the Locus and Sunburst Awards, the Prometheus, Emperor Norton and Campbell Awards, and been nominated for the Hugo, Nebula and British Science Fiction Awards.
