Jackman to attend Mexico premiere Actor Hugh Jackman has been given the all-clear to attend the Mexican premiere of his latest movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine later this month. The star’s scheduled appearances there had been cancelled because of the swine flu outbreak. According to Jackman’s Twitter page, he intends “to provide a moment of fun, escapism and a treat for some of the loyal fans of the comic”. Black hole swallows Barbarella rehash The planned rehash of 1968 sci-fi romp Barbarella is no more – thanks to German intervention. Sin City helmsman Robert Rodriguez revealed in 2007 that he intended to breathe new life into the heroine and introduce her to “a new generation of moviegoers”. Well, Barbarella is one classic which will be spared “reinvention”. Universal originally backed the project, but the studio got cold feet after the budget swelled to an estimated $80m [read on - The Register].
