Okay I’m sad enough to admit liking this idea of a custom made clock a lot. Of all the merchandising I’ve ever come across the Star Wars custom built clock is quite a good one, with the custom part being your choice of spaceship adorning the outer rim.

Not everyone seems to agree and the Gizmodo article where I found the clock seems to think it’s exploiting Star Wars fans!
Star Wars dorks are second to none in spending crazy amounts of money on anything branded with their obsession, but at what point does it become exploitative? I’ll just throw it out there: this clock.
Etsy seller YOUgNeek created this $90 custom-made clock out of vintage Star Wars spaceships attached to a Sterling and Noble clock. The specific choice of vehicles is left to the whim of the buyer, but exactly what warrants the price is a mystery. Wouldn’t anybody considering this clock already have a stockpile of little spaceships? And don’t most people own glue? Here, I’ll give my own instructions for creating this exact same clock for about 1/10th the price.
- Find clock.
- Find tiny figurines.
- Find glue.
- Glue result of Step 2 to result of Step 1, using result of Step 3.
- Thank me for my help in saving you so much money by sending me half of your profit.
Me, well I’m of the thinking that if you can pay someone else to do it, all the better - darling! And not everyone has die cast ships or a clock to stick them on. And don’t get me started with DIY! The only DIY that goes on in the house of this gay sci-fi nerd is when he’s alone in the house and feels like tugging!
