Doctor Who actress Elisabeth Sladen, who also starred in the spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures, has died.
Elisabeth Sladen joined the BBC television series in 1973 as Doctor Who’s assistant Sarah Jane Smith. The actress was a regular on BBC’s Doctor Who, playing the companion to both Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker. She stayed on for three and a half seasons, before leaving in 1976.
Elisabeth returned to Doctor Who in 2006, acting opposite David Tennant’s Doctor in the episode School Reunion. After her successful appearance in School Reunion, Elisabeth fronted the spin-off series, The Sarah Jane Adventures, written by Russell. T Davies for CBBC. The The Sarah Jane Adventures has run for four series, with a fifth scheduled to air later this year.
