Despite using the ‘found-footage’ as a plot device, Sinister has been getting some really good reviews from out of SXSW. If the trailer is anything to go by, we may finally have one hell of a scary haunted house movie.

Sinister is a frightening new thriller from the producer of the Paranormal Activity films and the writer-director of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Ethan Hawke plays a true crime novelist who discovers a box of mysterious, disturbing home movies that plunge his family into a nightmarish experience of supernatural horror.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, Sinister stars Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Juliet Rylance, Clare Foley and Michael Hall D’Addario.

Sinister is scheduled to be released in the US on the 5th of October 2012, and currently set for a late 2012 release in the UK.
