Star Trek, 42 bold years on

Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek turn 42 years old today, having made its first television network appearance on the 8th September 1966. Gizmodo and Wired both give The Original Series a nod to the franchise on its birthday at a time when fans are eagerly waiting the kick start with the new movie.

Is 42 an important event? I can only think that it has something to do with that other franchise, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. After all, to most Star Trek fans, it is their life, their universe, their everything…
