Red Eagle (Insee Daeng) is a remake of the 1960’s action classic of the same name, staring popular, now deceased, Thai movie star Mit Chaibancha. The remake, sees up-and-coming star Ananda Everingham take the role of the Red Eagle, a crime-fighting hero, playing alongside the affable Yarinda Bunnak who is the heroine of the film.
Despite originally being producer some 40 years ago, “Insee Daeng” is still considered a cult classic from the Thai film industry. The popularity of its successor remains to be seen, however, given the success of the original it must go down as one of the most anticipated Thai movies in years. There were two further movies in what is often lauded at the “Insee Series” they were, “Jao Insee” (King Eagle) and “Insee Thong” (Gold Eagle) both also produced and released in the 1960’s.
